Interview with BIA students Alison Kim and Courtney Barclay

With the term coming to an end, the BIA students have been busy in the studio working on The Sleeping Beauty performance. The grand ballet will feature about 30 Academy students in various roles including Alison Kim, who played Clara in The Nutcracker, and new to our Academy, Courtney Barclay. We had a chance to talk to the them about why they love the academy.
Ballet Idaho: What do you love most about Ballet Idaho Academy?
Courtney Barclay: I love the fact that we get to learn from professional dancers. Not too many people can say that their ballet teacher is currently dancing on a ballet company. It’s a huge privilege to have such experienced and talented teacher.
Allison: I love the styles and all the teachers. I love to dance in Ballet Idaho Academy.
BI: Courtney, in the Sleeping Beauty, you will dance a few roles. Which is your favorite?
CB: Dancing the part of a nymph is definitely my favorite part because it’s more challenging role. It’s always been a dream of mine to dance among the professionals and when I am in the nymph rehearsals, it’s hard not to be inspired, I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Sleeping Beauty and I can’t wait to perform in it!
BI: Alison, in the Sleeping Beauty, what are you looking forward to most about playing Little Red Riding Hood?
AK: I am looking forward to dancing on the Morrison Center stage again and working hard with the Big Wolf, played by Justin and Shane. I’m honored to be Little Red Riding Hood. It is really fun, because I am a similar age to her.
