Ballet Idaho conducts a nationwide search for a new Executive Director


The Executive Director works in partnership with the Artistic Director to develop a strategic vision that grows both the Company and the Academy. The Director provides inspired managerial direction and guides staff operations, fundraising, marketing, public relations, facilities, technology, financial management, and administrative support to implement artistic programs for Ballet Idaho.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Parenthesis show applicable direct report/partner)

Fundraising and Community Development (Development Director) Clearly articulates mission and impact of Ballet Idaho to the community Help set and oversee annual fundraising budget and goals in conjunction with the Development Director including major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, special events, and annual appeals by engaging and building relationships with current and potential donors

Performance Marketing and Sales (Marketing Director) Works with the Marketing Director to establish ticket sales goals, marketing goals and budgets Oversee Marketing and sales efforts Create an outstanding front of the house customer experience for patrons at all venues where Ballet Idaho performs

Strategic Planning and Governance (Board of Directors) Develop and implement the long-term strategic plan in conjunction with the Board of Directors and the Artistic Director Establish, monitor, and evaluate a financial plan which supports the overall strategic mission, vision, values and goals of the Company and the Academy Work with the Board of Directors to identify, recruit, retain, and train Board Members; Develop strategies for effective evaluation, rotation, and celebration of the Board and institutional successes Provide regular, positive, and transparent communication and reporting to Board members ensuring they receive timely informed updates on long range strategy, finance, and administration of the Ballet

Human Resource Management Provide leadership for hiring, evaluation, management, and recognition of all staff at Ballet Idaho Develop and maintain the Human Resource Handbook Create a positive engaging culture for Ballet Idaho In conjunction with management team, hire and supervise administrative staff and volunteers

Finance and Administration (Business Manager) Plan, manage and monitor financial aspects of the company in conjunction with the Business Manager Ensure financial transparency and accurate information is available to all internal and external stakeholders Conduct and manage administration and operations for Ballet Idaho

Process Improvement (All Direct Reports) Identify and prioritize process improvement opportunities Create Capital Investment and training plans to capture opportunities Document key process steps and develop relevant standard operating procedures and training programs Create and implement software maintenance and investment plan in support of process priorities

Other Responsibilities and Expectations:

Provide direct management oversight of Marketing, Development and Business Manager staff
Maintain effective and positive partnership with the Artistic Director and Board of Directors to ensure the company stays true to its artistic vision while ensuring financial stability
Assure financial stability of the company by creating and achieving balanced annual operating budgets and ensuring that accurate financial reports are provided regularly to the Board
Recruit, develop, inspire and retain skilled and experienced staff members who can help the company achieve its artistic and financial goals
Maintain current knowledge of developments in ballet management and participate in appropriate regional and national organizations and activities
Establish employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of Ballet Idaho
Serve as a spokesperson in conjunction with the Artistic Director to the organization’s constituents, the media and the general public
Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors
Review and approve contracts for services including but not limited to set/costume rentals, choreography fees and housing policies
Create a working relationship with management of the Morrison Center and the Esther Simplot Performing Arts Academy Board of Directors

Candidate Profile:

A strategic thinker and planner who can work collaboratively to establish and communicate a vision for the company and a plan for developing sustainable resources to support it
A leader with exceptional networking skills and a high-energy level for donor cultivation and fundraising
A manager with strong financial, sales and marketing skills; a manager with superb skills building a management team and creating a positive working environment
An executive who understands the direct involvement necessary to run a performing arts organization with a small staff on a financially sound basis and can work effectively with a volunteer Board
A confident, respected and ethical leader who can represent the company to its audiences, stakeholders and the public
Excellent oral, written and presentation skills

At our performance of (re)Define February 8th and 9th at the Morrison Center we will examine dance from multiple angles as we challenge both you and ourselves to reapproach concepts such as strength, athleticism, and more. We created this series of videos to celebrate such words and we want to know, how do you (re)Define them?
