Biography

Ethan is from western Massachusetts and began studying ballet at age five at Amherst Ballet. Ethan has trained on scholarship at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, as well as at summer programs at several schools around the country. After graduating from the UNCSA high school boarding program in 2012, he spent two years as an apprentice with Oregon Ballet Theatre before joining Ballet Idaho in 2014. Ethan has had the opportunity to perform many full length classics as well as to dance work by numerous choreographers including James Kudelka, Eliot Feld, Ethan Stiefel, William Forsythe, George Balanchine, Christopher Stowell, Anne Mueller, Mathew Neenan, Pontus Lidberg, Edwaard Liang, Ilana Goldman, Jason Ohlberg, Daniel Ojeda, and Peter Anastos. In addition to dancing with Ballet Idaho, he also performs with Arc Dance in Seattle. Ethan has been a semi-final Silver and Bronze medal winner and a two-time finalist at Youth America Grand Prix, toured with ÔÇťArtists of Oregon Ballet Theatre”, and has worked outside the studio with the administrative staff at OBT and with children throughout Portland Public Schools as a teacher for a local nonprofit.

Ethan began studying choreography while at UNCSA and has since furthered this study with Helen Pickett and Larry Keigwin. He has choreographed work for dancers at Boston Ballet School, Houston Ballet II, Oregon Ballet Theatre, and the Ballet Idaho NewDance, Up Close series. Ethan is beginning his third season as a Ballet Idaho company member.
