Phyllis R. Affrunti

Assistant Ballet Mistress


Phyllis has worked with companies across the southeast US before coming to Ballet Idaho in
2002, where she danced as a principal since 2003. She has taught and coached at Univeristy
of Georgia, Charleston Ballet Theatre and continues to teach in many summer intensives
thought the Pacific Northwest. In 2009, Phyllis became the principal ballet teacher for ArtsWest
Academy. She has been the production director of Ballet Idaho’s NewDance,Up Close series
since the 2014/15 season. She has worked alongside Paul Boos rehearsing the Balanchine’s
Valse Fantasie and with John Selya for Nine Sinatra Songs. Along with teaching the Ballet
Idaho’s Academy advanced level and Adult Program she is a coach for Youth American Grand
Prix and a sought after guest teacher. She is the Co-Artistic Director of Boise Dance Co-op
which has showcased over 100 local dancers and musicians and is acting Ballet Mistress for
Company C Contemporary Ballet in San Francisco.
