Kirsten Jensen began her dance training in Boise, ID with Ballet Idaho Academy and Balance Dance Company, studying with Lana Kroth, Heather Hawk, and Phyllis Rothwell Affrunti. She also trained and performed with Leah Stephens Clark, Laura Peterson, Gracie Whyte Coad, and Amanda Micheletty at Balance Dance Company. At 19, under the direction of Lydia Sakolsky-Basquill, Jensen made her professional debut in Project Flux’s self titled 2013 show. She then moved to Massachusetts to attend The Boston Conservatory and pursue her BFA in Contemporary Dance Performance with an emphasis in Modern Dance, which she completed in 2017.
While at the conservatory, she was extremely fortunate to work with dance professionals including Marcus Schulkind, Alissa Cardone, Joy Davis, and Kurt Douglas. She has attended summer programs with Ballet Idaho Academy, Balance Dance Company, The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, and most recently she traveled to Guatemala and Mexico to perform and teach contemporary dance while attending cultural workshops with JUNTOS Collective. She worked as an ambassador for JUNTOS from 2016-2017, which is a nonprofit organization committed to cultural exchange, understanding, and appreciation through movement. Jensen has performed works by Lauren Edson, Leah Stephens Clark, Helene Peterson, Lydia Sakolsky-Basquill, Peter Anastos, Laura Peterson, Tommy Neblett, Lorraine Chapman, Joanna Poz-Molesky, Brian Brooks, and Zoe Scofield. She is thrilled to be joining the faculty of Ballet Idaho for the 2017-2018 season.
