About the Academy

Under the direction of Emily Wallace, Academy Director and former dancer with Nevada Dance Theatre, Ballet Iowa, and Ballet Omaha, Ballet Idaho Academy provides students with a unique opportunity to learn, observe, and be inspired by a professional company of dancers, choreographers, and highly skilled instructors.

Ballet Idaho is home to Ballet Idaho Academy (BIA) and is located in the heart of downtown Boise. As the only academy in the region affiliated with a professional ballet company, come join Boise’s prestigious training program.

At BIA, our mission is to train young dancers through:

•     Musicality
•     Technical Precision
•     Artistic Expression

Our goal is to develop accomplished dancers and well-rounded healthy individuals within our physically demanding and creatively enriching discipline. We believe that a proper dance education builds:

•     Self-determination
•     Confidence
•     Poise
•     Respect
•     Strong teamwork values

A wide selection of performance opportunities exists for our students throughout their training with class recitals, our Jr. Ensemble, and the Pre-Professional Youth Company. In addition, students have the exclusive opportunity to audition to perform with Ballet Idaho’s professional company in our production of The Nutcracker and other classical ballets, affording them the opportunity to fine-tune performance skills and see firsthand the immense impact that dance has on audiences.

BIA offers four divisions:

•     Children’s
•     Preparatory & Pre-Professional
•     Adult
•     Extra- Curricular

These divisions offer the proper guidance that is best suited for dancers’ individual goals and trajectory whether your dancer is pursuing a professional dance career or training recreationally, we have ample opportunities.

In addition to our Academy training, we also offer a unique Trainee Program, under the direction of Stephanie Orza (former Principal Dancer with Inland Pacific Ballet), learn more here.
