Kate Maxted

Ballet Idaho Soloist


Kate was born in Durango, Colorado and started taking dance classes at 3 years old. She began her professional ballet training on scholarship at Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts. Kate also attended summer intensives at Houston Ballet, Washington Ballet, Ballet Austin, The Jillana School, and Joffrey Midwest. After graduating from Walnut Hill, she worked with the Joffrey Ballet, Colorado Ballet, and Ballet San Antonio. While at Ballet San Antonio, Kate ascended to the rank of soloist, performing the principal roles from a variety of ballets including Don Quixote, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, The Nutcracker, and George Balanchine’s Rubies and Donizetti Variations.

Kate joined Ballet Idaho in 2019 and was promoted to soloist in 2020. Throughout her career, she has been featured in works by Dominic Walsh, Bruce Wells, Ben Stevenson O.B.E., Gerald Arpino, Ricardo Amarante, Craig Davidson, Anne Mueller, Peter Anastos, Penny Saunders, Michael Pink, Willy Shives, and Glen Tetley. In 2018, Kate graduated summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst with a B.A. in Arts Management.

This is her second season with Ballet Idaho.
