Growing up in Queens, New York, Daniel trained in all the required fields for musical theater with Teresa and Mark Aubel. At age 12, he started training in classical ballet with private coach Barbara Walczak and still trains with her whenever he returns home. At age 14, he started attending Professional Children’s School and The School of American Ballet, where he trained in the Balanchine technique for 4 years on scholarship. At age 17, he moved to Seattle and trained for 2 years on scholarship as a professional division student with the Pacific Northwest Ballet School. While there he danced in various works with the company including Robbins’ Glass Pieces, Balanchine’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and PNB’s world premiere staging of Giselle.
Afterwards he joined Ballet Idaho, where he has now been featured in many roles including Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Sarabande Solo Boy in Balanchine’s Agon, and the principal male in Balanchine’s Valse Fantasie. Daniel has also danced in the works of Twyla Tharp, Alejandro Cerrudo, Penny Saunders, Lauren Edson, Danielle Rowe, and Edwaard Liang. He has also choreographed 9 original works for Ballet Idaho’s NewDance series and consistently collaborates with local artists for these productions.
He has premiered 4 works at the Morrison Center with Ballet Idaho including Qualia, This Mortal’s Mosaic, Together, which featured the music of Fleetwood Mac, and The Monster and The Gift, which featured original artwork by local artist Huma Aatifi and an original score by local composers Daniel Kerr and Jeremy Stewart. He is also the Performance Art Lead for Treefort Music Fest.
