Julian Goodwin-Ferris, is originally from Houston Texas. He started ballet at the Houston Ballet Academy, and continued training there for over 10 years under Claudio Muñoz, dancing in numerous productions with the professional company. He spent summers studying with Irina Vakhromeeva, attended the ballet program at Jacob’s Pillow in 2017 and 2021 as well as Royal Danish Ballet.
Julian graduated with high distinction from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in 2019 with a degree in ballet and an outside field in music. During his time at IU Julian took a leave of absence for a year to dance with Ballet Austin, where he went on tour to China for a month, performing in 14 cities across the country.
In 2019 he joined Miami City Ballet where he danced for five seasons. His repertoire at MCB included Balanchine’s Prodigal Son (Friend), Martha Graham’s Diversion of Angels, Alexei Ratmansky’s Swan Lake, and Justin Peck’s Rodeo.
Julian danced with New Jersey Ballet for two seasons, where he danced a variety of repertoire including, George Balanchine’s Serenade (Waltz Boy), Justin Peck In Creases, and Peter Martin’s Hallelujah Junction.
Julian is excited to join Ballet Idaho as a soloist this season.
When not performing with Ballet Idaho, Julian performs with Artistic Ventures In Dance (AVID) in NYC and Colorado, and has been involved in the National Choreographic Institute as a dancer at UC Irvine (2025, 2026). Julian has choreographed works for Miami City Ballet’s Pop-up series in 2021, 2022 and 2024, as well as two commissions for New World Symphony.
This is Julian’s first season with Ballet Idaho.
