Sofia was born and raised in Long Beach, California, where she trained at Long Beach Ballet. Throughout her time there, she performed roles such as Snow Queen and Dewdrop in The Nutcracker and the principal role in Cinderella. Sofia also participated in annual Regional Dance America festivals, and has spent summers training at American Ballet Theater, Ballet West, and The Rock School for Dance Education. She competed in the Youth America Grand Prix for many years, receiving both Top Twelve and 2nd place awards.

Sofia then spent two seasons as a trainee with Grand Rapids Ballet in Michigan, where she performed in several company productions, including The Nutcracker, Cinderella, A Midsummer Night’s Dream,and George Balanchine’s Serenade, as well as dance films and outreach performances in the community.

Sofia joined Ballet Idaho’s Trainee Program in 2022 and the following season became an apprentice for the 2023-24 season. While at Ballet Idaho, she has enjoyed performing in Peter Anastos’ The Nutcracker, Christopher Stowell’s Eyes on You, George Balanchine’s Divertimento No. 15, Garrett Anderson and Anne Mueller’s Swan Lake and Congruence, as well as contemporary works by Joseph Hernandez, Danielle Rowe and Penny Saunders. 

This is Sofia’s second season with Ballet Idaho.
